These twisted and surreal sculptures were all created by the very talented and award-winning Japanese-based sculptor Yoshitoshi Kanemaki.

As you can see they are a truly bizarre set of life-size statues, which involves the morphing of two or more characters as a way to construe mortality, human feelings and perceptions.

Also included in this gallery is a set of progress photos for two of the sculptures featured and shows the detailed and pain-staking transformation from a block of camphor wood to a stunning work of art.
